Hello my friends and relatives. My name is Brandi. I am born of White Clan for the Mud Clan. My maternal grandfather is of White Clan and my paternal grandfather is of The Mexican People Clan. In this way I am a Navajo woman, thank you.
I am your soon to be favorite queer, indigenous, neurodivergent, self-taught photographer!
In 2009 I moved to Seoul, South Korea during a previous life and you wouldn’t really know it because I didn’t really have a camera with me. Once I moved back to the states I bought a Nikon D3000 and dove right in. After moving to St. George, Utah in 2011 I decided that I wanted to capture the beauty surrounding me. After co-workers discovered that I had a camera, it wasn’t long before I was asked to take family photos. Looking back at them, I am grateful for the opportunity to learn this new skill.
I spent the first few years photographing families, wedding portraits, senior photos, etc. After moving to Portland and falling in love with the non-profit community as a regular volunteer I found my niche…event photography. My style is considered editorial or documentary and I edit in true to color, no presets here. I thrive in the midst of the event, quietly moving through the room capturing candid moments that bring all events to life. That candid focus does play a big role in how I approach weddings. Minimal posing is ideal for my neurospicy brain, so with me as your wedding photographer you will experience the day through the eyes of your loved ones and relive the bliss of the day. As a small business owner myself, I strive to keep my lens also pointed at other small business owners to amplify their voices. Within business branding the owner themselves is a critical part of that success. Portraits are what I describe to clients as “fast and furious”. It takes me more time to set up an on location studio space than it will take for me to capture your best smile.
I am currently living in Portland, Oregon. I am also a professional service provider with the Northwest Chamber of Commerce. I photograph indigenous business owners in Oregon, SW Washington, and have potential to travel to parts of Idaho.
In the last few years I have had my photography published in Retro Magazine, various online publications, and captured portraits for a book.
I work regularly with incredible organizations like Cascade AIDS Project, Open School, Lake Oswego Pride, ORPIB/Oregon Pride In Business, Oregon Primary Care Association, and NAYA/Native American Youth and Family center to name a few.
Through my lens, I aim to celebrate diversity, culture, and authenticity, ensuring that every image reflects the true spirit of the moment. Let me bring your brand and events to life through the art of photography.
Not Your Average Photographer
Here’s how I’m different
no. 1
I am self-taught and I’ve been capturing the world and people around me for over 14 years.
no. 2
I don’t have a dedicated studio space, that means that I can come to YOU!
no. 3
I am always open to new photography ideas. Have a funky project in mind? Let’s make it work!
“Brandi is Amazing! I have used her for both headshots and maternity photos and both are exactly what I wanted. She is professional, good at guiding, efficient, and just overall great at what she does.
I highly recommend her!
